About Us
We at Renville County Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) are a local branch of the regional Southwest Minnesota TZD, which is a geographical partner of Minnesota Toward Zero Deaths. Our goal is to reduce the number of deaths in our county do to traffic crashes to zero, because even one when it’s your father, mother, child, brother…is one to many. Our desire is to see all families make it home safely at the end of their day. We can’t do this without your envolvment.
Why call it a traffic crash instead of an accident? Because an “accident” implies that it was no one individuals fault; it happened by chance and couldn’t have been prevented. As a group we work together to offer various events and resources that inform our community on the importance of traffic safety, what the rules and laws are, and what steps they can take towards zero deaths in Renville County.
In 2022, the United States had nearly 42,000 traffic fatalities, Minnesota accounted for about 444 of those deaths. Southwest Minnesota Region accounted for 28 of those deaths. How many would you have said was an acceptable number?
